Dykes Lumber (124 East 124th St): Good source for lumber and hardware, mostly used to bulk orders, but can do smaller sales

Michaels Craft Store (808 Columbus Ave): Good source for craft materials, but can be pricey

The Home Depot (980 Third Ave): Lumber, foam, tools, hardware, various other craft materials

Mood Fabrics (225 West 37th St): Iconic fabric store with a wide range of materials

BeadKraft (1231 Broadway): Great source for jewelry making supplies

Compleat Sculptor (90 Vandam St): Excellent store for molding and casting supplies and sculpting tools, very knowledgable staff

Tinkersphere (152 Allen St): One of the only stores left that sells electronics components for tinkerers since Radio Shack closed

Canal Plastic Center (345 Canal St): Great source for laserable plastic, wide range of styles, sizes and colors available

Buying Tips:
Always look for safer, non-toxic, environmentally alternative options when applicable.  (i.e. low-VOC content for aerosols and other fume producing materials, using glue gun instead of epoxy for light work).
